Join participants of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching session "Internet: Exploring New Cultures" in a back-to-school chat. This session is designed to start up the Teachers Connect Town Meetings for school year 1999-2000. More importantly, it is a time for us to share our comings and goings and what they might mean for teaching and learning this year.

Joe Poletti is the Assistant Director of the Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center at East Carolina University. Joe's previous job was as a technology Educator-on-Loan with Teachers Connect, a micro-website of the NC Department of Public Instruction. His primary role was editor of Connected Classroom, an on-line journal contained within the site.
In previous iterations, he has served as instructional technology facilitator (Carteret County Public Schools), adjunct English faculty member (East Carolina University and Carteret Community College) and technology trainer (North Carolina Teacher Academy). He began his English teaching career in 1985 at Benjamin Banneker Model Academic College Preparatory High School in Washington, DC, before returning to North Carolina in 1992.
He is an experienced collaborator, designer, and presenter of staff development for the successful implementation and integration of technology. With a house full of girls (wife and three young daughters), Joe has no free time! But he remembers well the days of rugby and nights of dining in casual elegance.
