The Sharks Team at Mt. Holly Middle School

        I am in the eighth grade and on the Sharks Team at Mt. Holly Middle School in Gaston County, North Carolina.   The Sailors Team and Surfers Team make up the other two eighth grade teams at our school.  Three of the Sharks Team teachers include:

Mr. Gurley - Mathematics
Miss. Hedrick - Language Arts
Mrs. Matzke - Social Studies and Science

Mrs. Lineberger, Mrs. Oliver, and Ms. Vanhoy also teach some students on our team.  Other teachers teach us courses which include: Art, Band, Music, Business, Industrial Technology, Spanish, Physical Education and Teen Living.

        Our first field trip was to Schiele Museum to learn about the Catawba Indians.  On this trip we also went to the planetarium and learned about the stars.   Another special treat was eating out before returning to school.  This was a fun learning trip!

        On the Sharks Team website we keep records of exciting things we do this year.  Mr. Gurley takes pictures of special things we do and uses them as screen savers in his classroom.  We enjoy learning about technology and using it in our classes. 

        I know I will remember all the special things about my year in the eighth grade on the Sharks Team.
