During the time that Charlotte had its largest and best Career Fair on April 4 at the Grady Cole Center and the Annual College Fair on March 26 at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart, Mt. Holly held its own College and Career Fair at the school during April 2-5, 2001.

The college and career project was designed to get the students to start seriously thinking about their future and to use communication skills to share their findings with others at the school.

The students were assigned to research a college and career of their choice.  They researched to find such information as admission requirement, tuition cost, scholarships offered, and campus life.  They also had to tell the class why they selected their college.   For careers, they explained to the class what career they chose and the starting salary for that occupation.
On the day the projects were due, students dressed up and shared about their college at the fair in the library.  The students recruited students in the school and had them sign up for their college.   The projects were wonderful, the posters were great, and the kids had fun.  The teachers are extremely proud of how seriously the students were in completing the projects.

Miss Barber, student cadet from East Gaston High School, took a leadership role in the development of the college projects in Miss Hedirck's second period class.

In the media center the entire Sharks Team met for students to share oral presentations about careers they researched.   There was time for questions and answers after each day's presentations.
