Overview:
This is the final session for this course.   Give me five (note picture) for hanging in there with me!  The goal for this course is for educators to understand that desktop videoconferencing breaks down classroom walls and enables students to be involved in meaningful, real life learning through the collection and sharing of information.  The course objectives include for participants to:

  • Observe the educational value of desktop videoconferences
  • Install and configure telecommunications software
  • Set up a computer with software and hardware needed for videoconferencing
  • Participate with other educators in discussion forums, chats, and videoconferences
  • Organize a videoconference event that networks student/teacher with presenters as a class project.

Most of all, it is important that we networked as a class and experienced first-hand the education richness of this means of communication.   I understand the workload we all carry as educators and have extended the deadline until May 31 for class members to complete all requirements.

Assignment:

iVisit Meeting
Go to poll on the Connectivities eGroup and indicate if you will attend the 7:00 p.m. or the 8:00 p.m. iVisit Videoconference session on Thursday, May 11.   There should be no more than eight class members in a session.
During and after the session, capture the chat and pictures and place in a word processor document.  Instructions will be given during the session.  Save as a .rtf document and upload in your folder on eGroups.
Contact the instructor if you have questions or problems setting up and connecting.  Remember there is an iVisit reference page that was created for this class.  You may want to print to have for easy reference.
Class feedback.   Complete the online class feedback form and submit before May 31, 2000.
