List and describe highlights in your role as a professional educator.

  • Joining the "Bright Spots" of our school system.
  • Having a student tell me that she "learned more in my class in one day, than she did the whole semester of health class".

What are some of the ways you are currently using technology in your role as an educator?

  • I use laptops for research and power point presentations
  • I have an electronic smartboard(the greatest tool I use)

List some of the things that you are most interested in learning during the next two weeks of this MAST II workshop.

  • I would like to set up stations so my students can work independently and learn how to share their information
  • I would like to purchase the equipment needed to set up the stations

List the technology that is available for use by your students.

  • 2 ibook carts
  • probes
  • digital camera (library owned)
  • smartboard

What are two of your goals for yourself as an educator in the future?

  • To teach my students to be better inquiry learners
  • To organize better to have more time to set up my classroom for inquiry learning

Describe something you have done for students during the past year which had an outcome that you were particularly pleased with.

  • A wonderful trip to Busch Gardens for Physics day. The best field trip ever!

What are some of your hobbies?

I play/coach tennis

I love to shop

What is one of your favorite places to travel to and why?

  • Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. I grew up there and love the food I can't get in North Carolina.




 
   

 

Tell about your children

  • I have 2 kids-Zachary, 7 and Abigail, 15 months. They keep me very busy. Zack loves sports. Abby is learning to talk and babbles all the time like her mom!

Why teach High School?

  • I enjoy being able to let my students work independently while still feeling like they "need" me to learn.
