Materials: Blank calendar paper, Current calendar with days and dates, stickers, yellow highlighters
The teacher will reveiw the big wall calendar. Children will be guided to see in which order the days are listed (begins with Sunday, ends with Saturday). Attention will be drawn to the fact that the first day of the month may not be a Sunday.

First grade children write large. For this reason, they will print only the first letter of each day above the appropriate row of boxes on the blank calendar page. They are to copy the numerals from the current calendar that is at the workstation.
For any special (for them) days on the calendar, ie: birthday, first day of school, etc., they are to place a sticker on the corresponding day.
When they have completed the calendar, they should take a yellow highlighter and write the month across the calendar.
Assessment: Neatness, accuracy, independent work will be used to grade completed calendar.
