Chairman of the Cival Aviation Authority, 1990-1992 6. Cairman of the Australian chapter of the Explorers Club 1989-1994 7. First non-stop balloon crossing Australia ( co-pilot ) 1993 WHY SHOULD WE REMEMBER DICK SMITH: We should remember Dick Smith because he was one of the first people to drive in the solar vehicle race and for non-stop balloon crossing Australia and many more. EARLY LIFE: When Dick Smith was a child he spent at least 3 hours in the bush next door exploring the wildlife. He grew up as a boy scout and fiddled with radio sets. Dick Smith's interest was exploring wildlife. That's why he wasn't good at studying. He left school in Year 11 and tried to start a career but he got no where because he doesn't like studying. He felt like a failure. |
