Early Life 
  Howard Walter Florey was born on September 24th 1898  in Adelaide, South Australia in a small cottag. He was admired by his older sisters who never imagined that their baby brother would ever alter the history of the world. 
His father was a bootmaker who bought his two daughters and wife to a new country for a better life.His wife later died and alone he was left to bring up his two daughters. 

Family Life 
  Howard's mum was Bertha Wadnam and Joseph Florey was his dad. He had two sisters, Hilda and Valetta. 
Howard married Ethel in 1962. They had two children Baquita and Charles. 

Famous for 
Howard is now famous for inventing a way to use penicillin to prevent infection. Today more than a billion people are alive because of  Howard's amazing discovery called Penicillin....and you may be one of them! 
You see the world was a different place before penicillin. 
People were suffering  from diseases that are really rare today. From one scratch it could have ended with a wound that could not be healed. 
Ages ago everyone was searching for a miracle cure that could some how kill bacteria, and Harold Walter Florey help make that miracle cure a reality.
